Pause To Break My Heart

Kelleystand. A small desolate road in the dark woods of Vermont. Where the river, thrilling and cold, rushes along side. It‘s a road with no houses or cellular service, unsettling and abandoned. The narrow winding road becomes too small for cars and the bridges become too withered to be stable. It’s a place with a sense of loss and danger that few visit and even fewer return from.

The stories running through minds of Arlington’s inhabitants are sinister and troubling. A girl goes camping with her parents and awakes to a man sitting in a chair, in the road, watching. Another girl drives up Kelleystand with a friend, and is followed. As they drive faster, to escape death, they drive straight into it’s arms, the frigid water. Was it an accident? That’s what we’re told. But many believe it wasn’t. Children are found to be missing, slaughtered in Kelleystand. All the stories involving mysterious unrecognizable men.

Or is it just one man? The man. The man who has been murdering who ever is unfortunate enough to stumble upon Kelleystand. So if the whole town knows what’s going on there, why has no one been arrested? How come all deaths are claimed as accidents? Not all children accidentally die. People don’t just disappear. How can the police pretend there isn’t a girl dangling from a tree 5 miles up Kelleystand, lifeless. They can’t, yet they do. At first I didn’t believe in the stories, but, uh…
